You've got to be kidding? What kind of society is this that we have to question age old nursery rhymes for their 'deep' meanings? Well, since I don't think the 3 blind mice were involved with each other and I don't think the 7 dwarfs were a part of a little man's homosexual group, I'd think the answer would be NO, nursery rhymes are for entertainment only not for children's education and not meant to encourage anything except smiles & laughter. Some things just shouldn't be thought about too deeply, dude.

When it was first written it was innocent enough in sexual terms, but in today's rather deviantly sexualized culture, it can be read any way you want it to ~~~~ alas.

Rub A Dub Dub
Three Men In A Tub
And Who Do You Think They Be?
The Butcher, The Baker, The Candlestick Maker
Turn 'Em Out, Knaves All Three.

Pretty innocent stuff on the surface. But like all nursery rhymes you can bet your boots that it is a political rant of some sort that had great significance at the time.

No, it's a harmless nursery rhyme! Sure it sounds weird now, but I doubt the writer was encouraging children to be gay (you can't encourage people to be gay anyway). Besides, people don't call a football players showering in the locker room gay, so why is this any different? People read way too much into things, probably because they have nothing better to do with their time...

No. You can't 'encourage' anyone to be gay. I'd loved to know where you got that idea though? I think nursery rhymes are just for fun and teach children how to rhyme. I mean, at that age they don't know anything about that kind of stuff, so how could it effect them in that way? Or anyway?

I never gave it much thought until I had kids, but I always thought of it as a kind of boat.

Also, did you know the song "ring a ring of roses,
a pocket full of posies,
a tissue, a tissue,
we all fall down"

is a song about the bubonic plage? Most nursery rhymes have a sinister meaning.

well, its actually not three MEN in a tub lol. its rub a dub dub three MAIDS in a tub, and it was inspired by old fairground peep shows. first printed in the 14th century, it was later adapted to three men in a tub among other changes. both reference to the participants and viewers of peep shows, so id say its a pretty heterosexual nursery rhyme :-)

i would agree with that, what on earth are three men doing in the bathtub together anyway!

I tell ya all some of the old nursery rhymes are kinda evil, i am used to the way they were read to me, like little red riding hood, then my grandma gave me that book and it had a part in were the woodsmen comes in a cut the wolf open and takes out little red riding hood and puts rocks in their then they just sit down to eat... messed up if you ask me
i don't like that version!

no, it is just a dumb nursery rhyme i heard it as a kid and it didn't give me gay thoughts and didn't make me gay

kids aren't heterosexual or homosexual till an older age at least 15 but still then kids are young and haven't experienced much yet. i don't think kids develop a sexuality until they are older so a nursery rhyme won't hurt

I think that is getting a little over the top. A child will be who they are suppose to be, with or without nursery rhymes and children's stories.

No because children should not know about that religion or lesbians it is just trying to be a funny nursery rhyme.
