With all the raw, bitter hate emanating from Christians here on Yahoo, if one were to become disgusted and disenchanted enough with the whole thing, finally deciding it can't possibly be the true path... I am asking now, what alternatives are there to Christianity for me? I am a transwoman, if it helps at all.

Actually my seeming discomfort is not self inflicted, "bringiton" I am quite happy with myself. I have experienced "conviction" from God when I have done the wrong things in the past, never about this, not from God, but thank you for your suggestion that I am somehow a deviant, you prove my point admirably.

Pieter, about Muslims. Why should I hate them? If I were to go to Iran, convert to Islam, have an interview with an Imam, I could have approval for gender affirmation surgery and be declared under their law, based on their religious law, a woman, no if's and or buts about it. So?

Hello Erika, How r U? Look Wht i am gonna tell you; i read some of the answers and they r right about not rushing into something because of some people's reactions and do not totally concider a religion by the people but look into the source to the deepest paths of it, no religion on earth tells people to do bad things, always tell us the good things to be done but the humans try to bring new comments to it so they behave differently as on some people u saw around:) It's the same for Christinity or Islam or any other religion so all i can tell you is: If u r serious about this then u better go on and try to start searching the source of the religons then u will ve a better idea wht to do and like i said never ever judge someone or something from how it looks but deepen it and u ll find the treasure there:) Good luck Erika:)

Stereotype alert!
I'm a Christian, and I don't hate transwomen or lesbians or homosexuals or any group of people, aside of intolerant people in general. I don't think the problem is Christianity at all, though. I think it is intolerance that would likely exist whether or not Christianity existed or not. It is human nature. Some people are good. Some people are not. Many are at various positions in between good and not. You can try Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism, Wiccan, atheism, Taoism, Confuscism, or just plain spirituality. Either way, you'll find that there are tolerant people AND intolerant people there of all sorts. Do whatever YOU have to do to cultivate YOUR spirit. I don't think that Christianity is NOT the true path... but you may well find that there IS no single, true path. There is only a true path for YOU. So long as your goal is to be the best person you can be and to access God in a way that helps you feel complete, then I think you will be fine. But don't give up on Christianity just because of the jerks that are out there. Those jerks are everywhere. Good luck!

Well, when it comes to finding a house of worship that can be complicated by where you live... But for example here in NY the parade this year was actually led by two different religious groups... a Jewish synagogue and a Christian church.
I guess I say that to show you that pretty much every one of the major religions has at least a part of it that doesn't spew hatred of LGBT folks.
Maybe figuring out what basic beliefs you hold personally will help you find the particular religion that "speaks" to you.
If for some reason you want to give Christianity another try, I recommend Metropolitan Community Church. The church is founded by a gay man and they have some ways of reinterpreting some of the "Christian" things I learned as a child that really speak to me. I wish you luck in your search.

Well, this question begs to ask whether you are disenchanted with Christianity or its followers.
There are many people for many reasons who are disenchanted with Christianity's followers, but choose to continue with Christianity because of their faith. At this point, though, it becomes difficult because of the social isolation you would feel from "traditional" Christians.
Don't give up, yet. I myself have had a lot to grapple with when it comes to sexual issues and God, but right now, I have reason to believe that the two have absolutely nothing against each other. Of course, there are the issues of sexual promiscuity, but everyone would have to consider things like that regardless of if they were straight or GBLT-- if not for morality, then for disease concerns.

A good compromise would be Gnostic Christianity it reads like this: 114 saying from The Gospel of Thomas, "Peter said, 'Let Mary leave our company because she is not male and not worthy of the kingdom. Jesus said, 'No, I will lead her and make her like you males. When the female becomes like the male, then does she enter the kingdom." The reverse of this is also true. Another saying: Jesus said, " when you make the lower as the upper and the inside like the outside and the male and the female one, so the male is not male and the female not female then do you enter the kingdom of heaven." If this sounds interesting check out "Gnostic society Library" on line at

Don't turn from something you believe just because a few extremists make it seem horrible. There are plenty of open minded Christian organizations out there that preach love. I am an atheist but I get along with people of all different belief systems as long as they are kind hearted. From what I understand Christianity is all about loving your fellow humans. Find an organization within the religion that preaches tolerance and love unconditional.

You don't need Christianity to believe in god. Just find your own way to spirituality!
As a transwoman, do you really want to be associated with a religion that totally stands against your sexuality and your chosen way to live your life?
I don't understand....

I've started my OWN religion.
It's called Gayduism.
Join my fellowship of gays and lesbians.
Instead of cruxifixes we wear pink stars around our necks.
Our eucharist is not wine and wafers - but chocolate-coated ginger snap buscuits and caramel-flavoured malt milkshakes.
Would you like to become a Gayduist?
My gay God understands you, my child.

Oh, I am sure if we looks long and hard enough we can find some religion that will accept whatever we want. I hardly see the point. You obviously have decided that you only want to hear what you want to hear. I doubt the voracity of any religion that simply tells us what we want to hear.
I honestly don't know the Christian stance on Trans women. But if your religion instructed you that it was wrong and you decided to do it anyway then you have already placed yourself above your religion. That does not make that religion wrong. That does not mean it is not the true path.
You do not seek a path. You have decided to make your own path. Do not blame what some people here say that disgusts or disenchants you. At least be honest with yourself and say you have decided that you just don't want to hear something that is critical of you or your decisions.
I recommend you get the real position of your church from your church and not from anonymous people on this site. I know the Roman Catholic Church's stand is that they hate homosexual acts but they love homosexuals. They hate sin but love the sinner. I don't know their position on transsexuals. You should ask them.
