Why are there so many gays & lesbians in R&S annoying the Christians and so many Christians in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered doing the same to gay people? Can they not live without each other?

R&S stands for Religion and Spirituality

I go to both sections and ask and answer both equally, I have always wondered the same. Religion and being Gay can be like oil and water. But mixed with a little mustard they blend in perfectly. Freedom of speech. What I can't stand is self righteous people whether they are from the Religious section or the Gay section. People that portray themselves in a higher light or understanding. We all are equal with different opinions and believes.

To be honest the whole problem is - the respective 'groups' make out there needs to be this great chasm between them, but they still have this 'curiosity' about each other. My opinion is if you'hate' something or someone so much then you don't deliberately spend any time or energy on them. Yet you will find LGBT people going into R&S and vice versa deliberately asking questions they know are going to get a rise. Why if you have no interest or thing in common wit that group? I mean I would never go into the mathematics section as it doesn't interest me!

I am Gay and an ordained minister. This is why I work both sides of the street. Here I try to help gay folks. There I try to help christians better understand us. Hate is born of misunderstanding and love, acceptance, is born of knowledge. This is why I classify myself as a Gnostic (seeker of spiritual knowledge) Christian.

If Christians would follow their own Savior -- anyone remember Jesus??? -- and love their neighbor, judge not, be kind to each other, help each other and so forth, the world would be a much better place. Instead, these so-called followers of Christ follow Paul and the out of date, out of touch book of Leviticus which not only condemns homosexuality but the wearing of mixed fiber in clothes, working on the sabbath, anyone who is NOT a Jew, divorced men and women and shrimp, lobsters and other shellfish to name a few.
See how silly all that sounds? I"d much rather be an eclectic Pagan and follow Jesus by being kind. (and Gay, very Gay, 27 years to the same Lady. Gay, but very happy)
Blessed are the Merciful.

obviously some have too much spare time, others merely being silly, but the bulk the vast majority of so called christians are closer than they realize to glbt people, and there are some glbt ppl with an interest and or most with a sincere belief in some form of religion, and they donot believe christians so called should hound and hate.

It's the prejudice of not understanding something. Some people don't understand "gay" and are afraid of it so that makes them hate it. In this day and age we should all be able to just get along. If you are a true Christian, you can't be prejudice to something like that because then that makes you a hypocrite.

Personally, I don't blame the gay people for stepping up to defend themselves. Gay people don't personally go after and attack the Christian lifestyle. Some Christians, however do personally attack the liberty and lifestyle of gays.

I will defend my right to be respected as a complete, healthy, full-functioning homosexual man, regardless of whether those that would abuse me regard themselves as *religious* or not.

I refuse to be dismissed, de-humanized, diminished or condescended to.

Christianity can be used as a weapon of hate by little people with too much time on their hands. I will speak out against such people.
