I've never taken valium, so I can't say anything about it. Right now I'm taking ativan for anxiety and it's wonderful..for me anyway. I used to be anxious all the time and especially when I would have to do presentations for school...I would be all sweaty, shakey, cold, nauseous, pounding heart, etc. I did a presentation for class a couple weeks ago for the first time since starting on the ativan and I didn't even feel half as nervous as I used to before doing presentations. I also work on a psychiatric unit so ativan is occasionally given to patients, either in pill form or shot form. It seems to work well for our patients...I can't recall the psychiatrists ever ordering valium for anyone. So to answer your question, I think ativan is better for anxiety.

Ativan can also be used to help prevent nausea related to chemotherapy, but since you are asking on the Alternative Medicine site, I would suggest a long walk or soak in the tub with some candles and low lights to help relieve anxiety.

Both Ativan and Valium have adverse effects. Both can cause damage to the liver. I would strongly suggest looking into an alternative such as St. Johns Wart.

NEITHER!!!

Pills are not magic, they cannot cure something instantly!!! They can lessen symptoms and block the problem, but they do not address it.
