Justine Henin-Hardenne is the clear choice. She may not be as popular as Sharapova or others, but she is clearly the best at this moment. The next on the list would have to be Marrasimo (spelled completly wrong).

I believe that Justine Henin is the #1 player in Women's Tennis. Even though I have truly never liked her she is just the best at the moment. The next #1 will be Maria Sharapova or possibly one of the Williams Sisters.

The #1 Womens tennis player is Serena Williams. This year, she made a complete surprise victory at the Australian Open, killing Sharapova in the final. She saved 2 match points against Henin in the final at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami. She didn't really show up against Henin at the French Open, but Henin still would have beat her. Serena Williams has made it a long way this year and she has nothing to lose for the rest of the season.

Justine Henin. if you know anything about tennis you would know this. Maria Sharapova is number 2. For the men its federer number 1 and Nadal number 2

Justine Henin and Serena come very close to being best players. Maria Sharapova still has a long way to go

The fight for the ladies' crown is between Serena Williams and Henin. Serena is a beast and hits with a lot of power. She could win grandslams, but in other tournaments she will not play a lot in. Henin might not win all of the grandslams like Serena can, but she will be either finalist or semis. Henin plays in other tournaments. If Serena wins US and Wimbledon she will be #1 if she loses just one Henin will be #1. Sharapova is consistent too making the finals in Aussie open and Semis in French OPen which she stinks at. I don't think she will beat both of these players if she faces them. Her hope is that they will lose before she gets to play them.

currently, Henin is the best because of her consistency. but Jankovic,Sharapova and Ivanovic are playing really good tennis at the moment so perhaps they will take the #1 lead in the years to come

Justine Henin-Hardenne. She's the most consistent among women players. Sharapova's a bit overrated. Yeah, she's hot coz she's tall and pretty but she's very inconsistent. And that scream of hers is too annoying.
