Which presidents were actually honest and/or not corrupt?
Is the crooked politician only a product of modern times?
Which party is the most sincere and honest, regardless of their stance on issues?
It's like they all are thinking, "I only have x amount of time, how can I pocket the most cash before I leave?". It's just like the whole cash flying around a phone booth thing you see on game shows. Don't these people care about the legacy they leave behind, or the reputation of their family name?

There should be a meter or an audible 3-strike system just like the Family Feud game show. Three lies and a trap door opens beneath them

I like Jesus' idea. Maybe we need a 4th branch of government to babysit the politicians.

Crooked politicians are not just a product of our times. Teapot Dome scandal, Watergate, Iran Contra, to name a few.
Modern politicians represent the money that elects them...regardless of party affiliation. Lie detectors wouldnt work; Cheney would probably just ban their manufacture.

no politican, ever, is truly free from corruptness.. that just politics.. you gotta pull some strings to get what you want dome sometimes (wether its the right things or not),
crooked politicans have been around since the dawn of any form of gov't. look at past kings and queens.
to be very honest, even though i concider myself mostly a liberal (because of my strong opinions on certain issues) i feel like the conservatives may be very slightly ( i mean VERRRYYY slightly) more truthful, especially at this point in time w/ the upcoming election. but in reality, neither party can truly be taken 100% seriously.
and it is very easy to trick a lie detector, i mean politicans are professional liars anyways.

How about this: politicians have to experience the same consequences of the legislation they impose on the rest of us.
They will have to pay their congressional pages the minimum wage. OSHA will inspect each of their offices and levy fines for infractions. They will be penalized if it is found that they are not following affirmative action guidelines in the staff they employ. They will have to do without their special pension and banking privileges. Their children must go to public school. Any office perks they receive which are of value must be reported on their tax returns (like free flights sponsored by NGOs). They will be subjected to regular audits by the IRS to ensure they are not abusing their power.
How about this? All governmental retirement pensions will be tied to 30-year treasury bonds so that their retirements will be directly related to the consequences of the legislation they pass.

If they decide to pass that, I'm going in the lie- detecting business. Whoever pays me the most will decide who I think is lying and who's not. And many others will have the same plan!

neither party is sincere or honest.
if they were hooked up to lie detectors, they would make a deal with some lobbist who works for the company that makes the lie detectors to make sure they aren't accurate.

Won't always work. The Clintons for example are such good liars that they would have no trouble fooling the machines.
