Whomever they sign will be compared to Briere and Drury from both a talent and compensation perspective. Tough PR days ahead for the Sabes.

Sadly, they might not get much of anyone. The free agent market this year is pretty slim pickings. There simply isn't anyone left that is going to replace those guys. Unless the Sabres pull of a surprise trade, you're going to have to hope that a couple of the young guns on the team step up. Otherwise you're out of luck. On the bright side, consider this: Flyers and Rangers really overpaid for those two. At least Buffalo will get value for their buck.

Well for one, Jason Allison is a center looking to return from a year off and produces on average a point a freakin' game.
And if Buffalo cant find someone out of Michael Handzsus, Pierre Turgeon, Robert Lang, Michael Nylander, Trevor Linden, Brian Smonlinski or Eric Lindros, so sue them.

It's not the cap. The Sabres just don't have the $$$ to sign those type of free agents. However, I'm surprised that they lost both guys. I would have thought that they would have signed one of those guys.

Walz, Shanahan, Nylander and Zubrus are all being mentioned. Joey MacDonald as a back-up. Pretty much the scraps of the teams that spent some $.

Sabres #@%^ed up once again,they should of signed both back in january. maybe michael nylander or some other second rate center. Take the fork out i think they are done.

What a fall. I am surprised that no one wanted to stay, it is like one star decided to leave and the rest of the team lost confidence in the future there. I see them struggling to make the playoffs next season.
