Knock them off with a strong spray of water & use Ivory dish soap spray . The recommended dilution rate is 1 oz. Ivory Liquid to 1 gallon of water.
OR
1Tablsp vegetable oil and 1 Tablsp. Ivory dish soap to a gallon of water. Upon coming into contact with an insect the oil will coat and smother the insect. Use this method when it's cooler as it may burn when it's hot out. I spray my roses early in the morning.

A solution from http://faq.gardenweb.com/faq/lists/tips/... Blend together 1 garlic bulb, 1 small onion, 1 t cayenne pepper, 1 quart water. Steep one hour and add 1 T liquid hand soap
