Uh, it's pretty new.
It might not continue changing, in terms of what it offers and how, as much as fast as it has been -- or it might continue the rapid development for a while yet.
Economics probably will slow the number of users added per year.
There are a lot of people in the world who just can't afford the box and electricity and don't have connectivity.
So there'll probably be leveling off, until the next round of development makes it more accessible, and go through a few iterations of that pattern.
My guess, of course.
But as far as its ultimate effect, we are in the teeny, baby stages.
It will be very interesting to see how the young-uns make use of this thing that came into being in my adult-hood.
I hope they take good advantage of it -- the knowledge of the world at your fingertips.
Never thought I'd live to see the day.
And it's more than any idea I had when I was young -- MUCH wackier, much messier.
It has the potential to change the world.
But then, people said that about TV, and it has largely ended up as mind-candy -- though not entirely.
The difference is, TV was run by a few people who offered a few things.
THIS is OURS.
I grew up in a world in which "Freedom of the press applies to those who own one."
We ALL own one now!

I believe that there will always be a future in everything. Whether it be just a new type of monitor for the computer, or a totally new voice-activated projection screen robot that does all of your work. If you ponder for a bit, and think about how life was back hmmm....about 50-100 years ago, we had no idea we would be living this life. Humans will continue to create and invent forever, however nobody knows what will come next.

I think eventually everything will be all inclusive on your computer via the internet. Phone, TV, security systems... everything will be available on the internet through your computer. In my opinion we are absolutely in the early days of the internet. Wait and see, in about 10 years no one will have a land line TV and cable TV will be obsolete. Security systems are already on the internet. Youtube.com is a good example of internet TV in the early stages and VOIP i.e.: Skype is the beginning of the end for land line phones. I'm getting a Samsung plasma TV for my computer in my office.

I would say the mid-growth phase of the Internet. It is already a clearly established technology, but there are still growth to come. So, somewhere in mid-phase is my guess.

I somehow have the feeling that all these Internet, hi-tech etc will crash. It's a kind of 'law of diminishing returns'.
