Given the choice of being smart or being wise, I would take the wisdom. The reason is that in order to have wisdom, you have to have a certain minimal amount of intelligence and that minimum is pretty high. By taking wisdom, I get a large measure of both.

Wise! Wise is something you already are or something you will never be. Smart is something you can become later if you study enough.
