Tiger barbs over 2 1/2 inches in a tank are very rare so you are in very good shape!

a 6 gallon tank is too small for tiger barbs, they are very active swimmers and need at least a 20 long. The rule of thumb is one inch of fish per gallon of water but IMO that rule is for tanks bigger than 10 gallons anything less then 10 gallons you are looking at a betta nothing else, not even a goldfish.

Some one said that tiger barbs getting 2.5 inches is rare is not a fact. I had 8 in a 55 gallon and each got at least 3 inches and were little pigs, I would feed them oranges and zucchini along with pellets.

Yes it's overcrowded! Tiger Barbs are very active and need 20 gallons to fulfill their swimming needs, a 6 gallon tank is far too small for any Barbs at all! The only thing you could keep in a 6 gallon tank would be a Betta or Neon Tetras and they would need a heater and filter too...

It depends on the size of your barbs at the moment.... if they are only at about 1 inch or even 2 inches youre right at your limit (but you WILL need to upgrade to a larger tank for them as they grow) but if they are larger than 2 inches you are already overcrowded. (The aquatic plant need not be considered in the equation as plants are good for fish, they generally do not create problems).

people may say that tiger grow to 3 inches. that may be. but since this is the only type of fish in the tank, 3 tiger barbs and the plant are fine.

No. That is fine. For most small to medium sized fish (less than 2-3 inches long), a good rule of thumb is 1 fish per gallon of water in the tank. Some smaller fish, like the little goldfish and tetras, you can have 1.5 or 2 per gallon. Barbs would fall in the 1 fish to 1 gallon ratio, so you're fine.

yes tiger barbs get about 3 inches each when full grown. They also need a group of 5 or more or they will fight because they are very aggresive.

No. As long as they are small fish, it's not overcrowded. You can have 1 fish per gallon, if you keep it small to medium.
