Many people fear death, I fear death. The question is why. We all know that life is terminal. We have no control over when and how we die. Is it a fear of leaving our loved ones behind or just pure survival instinct? Maybe selfishness? I would like to hear peoples views on this...

Fear is such a strong word

I dont fear death, i think many people dont really fear death, they just cant identify the emotion they attatch to the thought of death so the just choose fear... i dont know why... laziness maybe...

Im kind of worried about what will happen to me after i die, like where im going to end up, i hope there is something afterward... or else what the hell am i doing all this for???

Im also hoping i dont die a grusome death, like no pain, and no uncertainty, i definitly dont want to fight what i know is inevitable

In fact i think death is the purpose of life

We fear the unknown and perhaps the manner in which we will die. Everyone fears death at some time during their life cycle. In time, we come to a realization and an acceptance of death.

The knowledge that our years are limited makes them so precious.

The time allotted to each of us is not the same in length, in light, in beauty. Some are privileged to spend a long and sunlit time in the garden of the earth. For others the day is shorter, cloudier and dusk descends more quickly as in a winter's tale.

The day that we are privileged to spend in the great park of life is not the same for all human beings; but there is enough beauty and joy and gaiety in the hours, if we will but treasure them.

I don't know about others, but for me, it was to keep myself from killing myself!! I went through a workshop of a famous old psychiatrist--can't remember at this moment--and in a deep meditation, I went down the "well" and there I met Death! It said, "Don't you need me anymore?" I decided that I did not--that I had made a decision to Live. From then on, I live and fear not death. I'm sure it's an individual issure, however. I am now 78 and have had a wonderful life! Good luck to you!

Although I firmly believe that there is life after death, I'm still fearful of dying. The fact that I will be impaired, the fact that I do not *know* what happens once I am dead scares me.

I don't fear death anymore and it's due to my strong faith. I know that my time on earth is temporary and what comes after will be much better.

I think people fear it because they don't know what to expect and they want to hold on to what they have rather than experience something new.

Even a protozoa shrinks from danger. It's a built-in instinct. Why try to subvert it, anyway?-(might be more to the point.)
