I really like it, but think you would have to be careful when chosing a middle name.

I used to live in Essex County in New Jersey. It's more for a place, not a person. Please, find another name...
It's too much like the word SEX to give to a child. S/he will be made fun of at the schoolyard by her/his classmates because of a name like Essex.
How about another name starting with an E like Elaine or Erica?
Or for a boy the name Eric or Elliot?

That's a terrible name for a child! I already feel bad enough for people with Essex as a last name.....the idea that a mother would voluntarily curse her child with it is unthinkable.

Not a bad name, but be prepared for your kid to be teased a lot. It won't take long for other kids to figure out that the word "sex" is in the name. My advice, keep in mind what names would cause your kid to get picked on, unless that doesn't bother you.

Essex not so much but Essence is pretty. i could pretty much deal with any names but not Essex. sorry! but try Essence!

The name is ok, but the other posts are soooo right. You will be dooming the kid for a lifetime of teasing if you do that to him.

I don't really like it because I am from New Jersey and that is one of the names of rhe 21 counties.

try not to use it for the sexual term in it, as the child may be made fun of in older stages of life, i also one read it on a shirt so i think its a brand name or something try something else like essence though.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of it. I think that the spelling would be slightly embarrasing for a child, and it is too trendy for my tastes, as well.
