id be the BISHOP
:-)
not because of it's religious connotation,
but more of it's role & movement within the game.
it's role as the last sacrificial lamb for the king & queen..
closest to the throne, & never traverse on straight lines or abrupt L turns.

i serve in my most eccentric way.
:-)

Interesting posit...

For even the queen is controlled by a player. Are we not all puppets? Even within the guidelines of chess, the queen may only move where the player wants--slightly more power than a pawn.

Once, a plant manager of mine said that managing the plant was akin to chess, and that he was indeed a good chess player. Always quick-witted, I then asked, "So am I a pawn, too?" He, as expected, did not answer.

Ironically, even though he was plant manager and a few notches above me, he had a boss, and his boss had a boss, and so forth. The truly free men and women on this planet are the ones who pull the strings--so I then ask of you, do such people even exist?

And yes, all things considered, I would be Queen.
