Lack of strength. Grey is too light to be Black yet to dark to be White. It has no strength in where it stands.

When I was but a stripling youth,
I sought to emulate heroes from books.
There was one that suited me, severe and aloof
It was easy to assume his look.
I only had to wear gray.
The color of steel.
It had its appeal
As I went through the years
gray was my appearance.
I did not seek to copy my peers.
It was a lonely experience,
me wearing gray.
A symbol for steel
A color real
Then one day, I winced.
Because I knew why I wore gray.
It was my armor, my defense.
Gray, the color of steel
and a cold sky
Its severeness is its appeal
I can not lie
I like wearing gray
Older I am and out of the away
But still, I wear gray.
The color of my hair
where it is not bare
To match my thatch
is now why
I wear gray
And shall until I die.

I think of grey as a kind of aimless color.... it doesn't really commit to black or white. Vague. Doesn't seem to aspire to be more than it is. Not like yellow, an ambitious color.

Grey for me refers to a human...an ordinary human being...
not black...not white but its mixture...
good qualities mixed with bad qualities makes up to an ordinary human being, whom we meet daily, fall in love with, deal with, laugh with, cry with etc etc etc...
:)
