my bio wheel filter stopped woking, it doesnt suck the water up anymore. i need to replace it but the pet store is closed.

I know that you are never suppost to replace the bio wheel part, but the petstore is closed and i need to let is sit about 24 hours until i get a new one.

should i leave it soaking in water ? should i not leave it in water ? should i just use the new wheel that is going to come with the new filter ?

help!

You can leave it in the tank for best results. Even there it will slowly lose it's bacteria colonies and be less effective within 48-72 hours, so replace the filter and get it running again as soon as you can.

What do you mean "it doesn't suck up the water any more?" Is it not turning? Have you replaced the filter recently? If the filter is more than 3-4 weeks old, the water won't pass through very well, the the wheel stops.

They work OK, even when they're not turning.

check the impellar, pull it out, and look for threads, gunk on it. check the tube for obstructions. change the filter, if mthe motor is burned out you csan buy new motors for alot less. sometimes a new impellar is all you need. i would just leave the filter until morning
