Yeah, I'm pretty curious about this.

Is it possible to sign your name using calligraphy style on those documents and such? i.e: Cheques, etc

Whatever mark you use consistently with the intent that it is your signature IS your signature. Even an 'x' can qualify under the law. Once had a manager whose signature looked like a stray ink mark. That signature was routinely used on document filed with the courts.

Sure, if you use the same signature consistently, you can do it as fancy or plain as you like. Do you really want to have to calligraph every single check you ever write?

Agree with Steven F: any mark you want. Once knew a guy whose sig was an infinity-shaped fish-symbol. Perfectly legal. Imagine what marks people use when they don't have any use of their fingers.
