My all time favorite band is Goo Goo Dolls. They are simply timeless. I love every single one of their songs, literally ever. Just beautiful songs, and the music and lyrics MEAN something, which is rare.
Death Cab For Cutie, Snow Patrol, and The Fray, come in a very close second.

That is a tough call. I have several favorites from the 70's. I guess if I had to pick only one, it would have to be Paul McCartney and Wings.
