Jesus. I trust in His plan for my life, even if it is full of pain, I know that heaven is at the end of it, and that gives me HOPE! This hope is based on objective truth, not subjective wishings. I can have peace and joy no matter what my circumstances because of my faith in Jesus and His sovereign control over everything.

Life is worth living because of everything involved in it. Life is full of wonder, love, happiness, as well as hate, dismay, and bad times. If you didnt have bad times in your life, you would not learn. And learning is a great thing. Life is worth living because no one knows what lies beyond. People cop out and say life isn't worth living and take their own lives. Why? I don't know. I used to be like you. I used to think life was just full of horrible things and horrible people. I still believe that, but i've changed myself. Why let things get you down when you can learn from them? Be confident and always look on the bright side of things because believe it or not, it works. I used to be so depressed just looking at the worst side of everthing until one day i just started thinking positive. I know it sounds stupid, but it works. Everything has a good side. Keep living because its the only life you have (that you are aware of) Keep living because there's so much you have and have not experienced. I'm sure you've got hobbies and good friends and all kinds of external stimuli to help fuel your mind. Life IS full of pain and misery, but to everything, there is an opposite. Live life because hell, where would you be without it?

Is it worth it?
I was once asked by a teenager,
caught in the midst of angst,
if life was worth all the grief and pain,
the sorrow and suffering.
I thought for a bit
and found I had but one reply
to the question.
A resounding, yes.
It was worth all the turmoil and trouble
to make the trip.
I had learned so much
and seen even more.
Life is so diverse and full of joy
that I would be sorry to leave it
as I must.
The experiences I have had
and the pleasures I have found
has made life a journey
that I could not miss.
So, yes!
It is worth it all
to walk life’s path
regardless where it takes you.
You can be sure
it would be somewhere
you would otherwise,
have missed.
Life has its bumps and even disasters, but though it all, it is worth it. Remember the philosopher’s admonition: “That which does not kill you makes you stronger!”

Its the hills and valleys...nothing is the same all the time, it can not be. We just show up here, and are expected to live a happy life (when in reality happiness is an illusion)...that is why they call it the persuit of happiness. it really is not a state. What keeps me going, and believe me, I've had my bad (really bad) days, ...is that I know I have a purpose in life, because I was created. by God, I wont get into this right now because I know you dont want your question answered by a relegious stand point. The other thing, is to appreciate what we have, (much unhappiness comes from thinking of things we want) when, in reality, we really dont want them. Helping someone is very fulfilling, try going to a nursing home, and chatting with an old person who is lonley, or go to the pound and, rescue an animal that is about to be put down...build yourself up by helping others...afterall the center of all unhappiness comes from self centeredness.

Life is our greatest value
Life is the standard of all values. We live because we value life. With life we can choose many values that bring us happiness, but at one point or another pain may be unavoidable. It is possible, for the few, to have a life mostly devoid of pain. If one lives rationally, is in good health, enjoys his work, is productive and successful at what he does, lives to a ripe old age with a reasonable quality of life and dies in his sleep at 99, I think a life like that is not "crap"!
But if one is confined by a painful and terminal disease, with no prospect of recovering or bettering one's life, then life may have little or no meaning and the person may not value his life, preferring to end it.
We have progressed from the caves to the jet plane precisely to make our life more livable, more comfortable. I would not prefer to have been born five hundred, a thousand, or ten thousand years ago. People lived in poverty, struggling to feed themselves, could not heal the simplest illnesses, died young, were in constant fear of being conquered, looted, made into slaves. If reason will prevail over stupidity, humans will continue to progress and life could be extended longer and longer, with more and more discoveries to work with for improving our human condition even more. If stupidity will win, humanity will plunge into poverty, war, and destruction.
Like all values, the quality of their status makes a big difference. You may value a beautiful car when it is brand new and you have plenty of mileage to enjoy it. When it gets old, and breaks down frequently, you don't value it as much. Eventually, you want to get rid of it.
As long as my reasoning mind gives me opportunities to be creative, productive and capable of pursuing enjoyable activities, life will be worth-living. Just because there is no such a thing as eternal enjoyment, it does not mean that what is temporary is worthless.

I did try to kill myself and died and they brought me back --
I was deep into depression and abusing drugs -- I thought I should end it --
Then a few months after I was out of the hospital - my father took me out for ice cream and made me laugh - I started going to a poetry reading in my town and met some really cool people that changed my life --- and I thought to myself -- things can always change for you -- for the better or for worse - but it's worth it to stick around and see what the world has in store for us - today we are a little ticked off or something -- tomorrow you could win a million bucks on a scratch off ticket - it happens all the time -- and you might die in a car accident or something -- so live life to the fullest - it may get cut off unexpectedly -- and then you know you were living life -- I am in love (3 years now) with my soul mate - off drugs and not even smoking cigarettes anymore!!
I am loving life even though I hate my job!!!

I live each day with suffering , depression and nothing to do.
Each day I wake to see the sun, I am dissappointed.
My reason for living and keeping on, is to push through the bad and endure the suffering. To challenge myself and not give in.
If there is any meaning to life, then I am a winner, if not I am a fool. so just in case, I keep on going

I have no idea what makes me get out of bed in the morning. I think it is just because I have been doing it for 14 years without thinking about why I do it. I probably don't think as much as I should on that subject...
At least I know I am being honest with myself.

Looking and sorting through all the knowledge I can gather and process in that small, futile hope that there just might be a purpose to be found in my own, induvidual life. even though I know there isn't.
