both a public and a private IP address which means we all have two. If that's the case why would anyone have 3 addresses on their computer when two should be the highest amount. Right?

Not everyone will have two different addresses. If someone connects their computer directly to the internet and their modem has no routing features, they will have just one IP address.

One could have three addresses for various reasons. In my case, I use wireless to connect to the internet, so I have both public (the router) and private (the wireless adapter) IP addresses. My motherboard also has two RJ-45 ports available, which in total potentially gives me four IP addresses.

Typically, a person at home will have one or two IP addresses, but others may require special networking needs, therefore needing three or more addresses.

You have only ONE IP address on the internet, which is how anyone outside your LAN sees you. Access checkip.net to see what your external address is. Internal (private) addesses are accessible only within your LAN. If you have multiple computers on your LAN, they will all have different private IP addresses. Only if you have two or more network cards on a single PC would you see multiple private IP addresses on a single PC.
