It depends on the 'republicans' you're talking about. Certainly the Eisenhower republicans never cared about the policies and politics of the reactionaries that hijacked the GOP. The folks that believed that the right wing of the GOP, using Bush as their front, would give them all the influence they would need to become Masters of the Universe allowed themselves to become true believers. It worked for some...it didn't for others. The Oil Mafia certainly got their monies worth...the Jesus freaks got a lot less...which is why they're abandoning him now. As far as 'liking' Bush..that's a toughie...most people never actually met the man, so how would they know if they liked him? Respect...maybe the office, but it's hard to respect a man that's no more than a stooge big business and the religious right. People wanted to believe in this guy and they're now disapointed. That's my opinion.

I believe that there are some who will still like and respect President Bush no matter what. They will continue to tow the party line. I think the same holds true for Democrats with Bill Clinton. There will always be party loyalists on both sides.

very actual. regrettably, maximum Democrats AND Republicans do no longer prefer to handle the actual subject concerns, as they're politically risky. If Ryan can commence a real debate approximately those subject concerns, we would be extra useful off for it. even nonetheless, i'm no longer confident with regard to the quite effect. recent historic previous exhibits Congress to be quite valueless. On immigration, it is clean that present day rules are inadequate, yet they do no longer something, permitting undesirable rules to stand because of the fact they're unenforced. On abortion, it is clean that a criminal definition of whilst an organism turns right into a guy or woman is serious, yet they do no longer something, permitting the judiciary to cobble at the same time precedent to function regulation, without rational foundation (aborting a fetus is advantageous, yet killing a pregnant female is double homicide?). On protection, it is clean that a clean criminal type would desire to be created for accused international terrorists, yet they do no longer something, mutually as the administrative and judicial branches spar approximately who's an "enemy combatant" and who's a "criminal" whilst for sure neither term fits. i've got come to the tip that Congress is incapable of exact performing any significant function, and that our republic is doomed. optimistically Ryan, and those like him, can tutor me incorrect.

What do you mean "still like him"? Has he changed? Do you think that the members of a political party should abandon their president just because the world holds him in such low regard.

Congress seems to like him well enough; they haven't even discussed impeaching him (that is next to adoration for a Dem controlled congress isn't it?).

Why don't Democrats give him his due.
Stocks - All time high
Unemployment - Near record lows
Houses - More Americans own their own home
Trade Deficit- Down
Deficit - Down despite two wars ( First in history)
Liberated two countries from harsh dictators.
No Child Left Behind
Prescription drug plan
Large tax break
Not saying Iraq what has he done so wrong?
Also his numbers are not as low as the Democrat controlled congress

It would seem, that you have no respect for anyone's opinion that opinion differs from your own. Anyway, it is still possible to respect someone, even respect their opinion without agreeing with them. I still have respect for the office of president and the president, even though I disagree with many of his policies and goals.

A person can understand the Constitution (regarding being stuck with a president), and that doesn't translate into anything but maturity.

Can people even read anymore? Our president does not even have to be supported by one of us. We get to vote on a new one in 2008. And from what I hear, he has no plans to run. LOL

I have a counter question. How can anyone even vote for a democrat, and support pathetic liberal ideologies? Are you guys on LSD? Retarded? You tell me!

Bush is not the best president, and I sure as hell disagree with his weak stance on immigration; but we have a good economy under him, partly due to his tax cuts, unemployment is very low at about 4%, and he's holding his ground under strong criticism over the war on terror, which needs to continue until Islamic terrorism is under control.

Payed attention to a poll lately buddy? Even most of us dislike Bush. We just believe that you should support the nation and it's continued success, even if you disagree with the President.
