Recently a website "Discountsalonoutlet.com" Charged me money for a purchase I had made on their website. A little while later I recieved a letter saying that the product had been discontinued and that I would recieve the credit back. It have been months since and I have not been reimbursed. I have sent various emails and get the response that I will/have gotten my money back and have not. To top if off recently the website has gone down and I have not been able to see and more contact information to get ahold of them. I called the host of the website and they said that the websites information has been marked as private and so they cannot give any of it away. They lady them informed me that I should get ahold of some sort of authority to help in the situation.

My question would inevitably be what "authority" should be contacted. I doubt the local police would have any knowledge in the situation : ). Any information (phone numbers/companys) would be appriciated.

Federal Trade Commission, since it most likely involves interstate commerce. Also call your state's attorney-general's office. Ask to speak to someone handling internet fraud cases.

Start with the FTC and the Attorney General of your state, and the state where the company is located if known. It is too late to dispute the charge with your credit card company. You have 60 days from the first statement on which the charge appears to dispute it. Your question stated it has 'been months since'. That most likely puts you past the 60 day limit.

Dispute the charge with your credit card company. Call your card company, explain the situation, and ask how to dispute the charge. You will have the most satisfaction going that route. Make copies of anything you have and keep them safe. You need to act quickly, you only have a certain amount of time to dispute the charge. Good Luck.

You may even be lucky enough that your local DA or police department has a computer fraud bureau. Since you have been the victim of a theft (by deception), you can file a police report, but do follow-up with the agencies others have mentioned.

Call and report this to the Federal Trade Commission, I know they handle credit card fraud/ products ordered and not delivered. Good luck to you!
