Racism is about power and mind control. Usually those who are the most insecure are the worst racists, because they know by being racist or promoting racist values that they will bring about a negative influence in the lives of another.

Having that ability to anger, hurt, exclude, or do injustice to others gives them some sort of power that they would not have otherwise. And then again it is so easy to just make generalized statements about an entire group of people instead of judging individuals, especially if one has had many negative experiences of a particular race in real life. Racism is a form of mental laziness and inferior logic. Now that I know this, racist comments like those on Y! answers don't really bother me, even the most vile and hateful. It's all about trying to evoke strong reactions from total strangers and getting that sense of satisfaction when posters offer emotional responses, which is the very essence of trolling. However racism can be very dangerous, even life-threatening which is why it is so sad and powerful. It can determine life opportunities, alter our own self-image or self-worth, it lead people to do horrible things.

Actually I think it begins when we're young kids and impressionable and we hear things such as stereotypes or racial comments on television or out of other people's mouths. Shows such as the Family Guy and South Park aren't for kids, but being a cartoon format, kids think it is for them. Those cartoons are filled with racial innuendo, and kids see these at an early age. Not even in the current time, but back when cartoons were first coming out, Disney was racially charged all the time. But children see this, and hear adults speak, and it becomes a part of their thought process. In addition, all cutlures are culturally/raciallycentric, and in the middle ages when there was war every day, one race or culture was always fighting another. It's been that way for thousands of years, and it gets learned from one generation to the other. That's how I see it anyway. You've never heard about a black guy stealing a car and thought "oh there's another one" or seen an asian drive badly and think "they really need to stay off the road"? Everyone has a thought like that at some point in their lives. Those who say they don't are lying because they don't want to seem like a bad person.

Our society has created an atmosphere of, not just racism, but hatred for people who are not like "us". ("us" being which ever society being considered.) The US seems to be not only the most hateful, but also the most hated. Christianity is also a creator of hatred for those who follow differing ideas. Why? That's a good question. The early history of the US promotes the use and trade of slaves as property, not as human beings. Also, they were treated as inferior in intelligence. As the US moved into the world as a major industrial and armory power, we began treating every body as lessor in strength and intelligence. The US also became a very powerful Christian force.
All over the world, though, there are pockets of hatred especially against the US, as we have seen. If you try to put yourself in their shoes, you can see why. Especially under the Bush leadership.

Unfortunately, I think how we are raised has a lot to do with how we judge others. Our interactions with different people and experiences we've had also play a part in how we feel about different races and cultures. I was raised a military brat and then spent 4 years in the Air Force myself, so I've always been around a variety of people from different backgrounds and cultures. So for me, people are people. It's sad how much racism we still see today in our world.

People are afraid of something they don't know or understand, but since no one wants to admit to being afraid - they hate or get angry to cover up their fear.

Its more than skin color - rather lifestyle, religion, or culture of different skin colors. They meet someone who is a different color and don't like how they live or how they talk or how they dress or how they look - so they hate them. Then they meet someone else of a similar color and they stereotype that other person.

People join gangs and hate groups so they feel strength in numbers. They attack before they are attacked - so they feel "safe".

Its more fear and ignorance than anything else - Really sad actually.

That is the logic of the new generation.

Racism stems from parents handing down information and "racist" premonitions to their children. Our parents don't have the racist thoughts as much, but are more wary.

Now our generation sees past that and recognizes the difference between good and bad people

I don't know, why do you hate white people??
They havent attacked you. They have simply survived being blamed for every other races problems and all of (well most of) the white women want to have black kids now, even though it seems most of the black people just want to eliminate the white race from the face of the earth. The blacks invaded Europe way before America was even found by Columbus (see Moor invasions)whites were sold into slavery from Europe to N Africa during the same time balcks were sold from Africa to Europe and America, most whites that wound up in America were fleeing wars and their families were wiped out in their countries and they were just as persecuted in this country from other nationalities as anyone else ,see German Communities,Italian Communities,Irish Communities they didn't get a free home and nice cushy job when they got here;why are everybody so accepting of terms like redneck when poor peolple in the South were blamed for slavery that they had nmothing to do with and their families were murdered during the civl wars and then people after the war attacked them due to their accents and when they fought back they were called racists?why do you hate white people?why on the news or actually driving in my car do i see people of certain races waging war on white america and whites called the aggressors when they dont even fight back and actu8ally call other whites racists?
