Yes and it was amusing. Muses tend to be rather fickle, and very much given to playing with our dreams. Think of all the dead artists whose paintings are worth millions who had little more than the money they scraped together to buy their materials and barely a crust of bread and a bit of absinthe. I'm glad I don't have to live off my art, maybe someday my grandchildren may profit from it if it lasts that long.

Actually I've danced, sang, and drank with several of the sisters. They're all party types. As Vince used to say, "Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder", but I think it was just because that muse had his ear! These days I just make do with a wee bit of Pernod over ice. Still things swirl in such beautiful colours.

In my experience, with MY muse anyway, I discovered that courting was an exercise in futility. My muse would not BE courted, but came & went like a vagrant breeze. I'm specifically referring to painting. On the other hand, when it comes to "serious" writing, I think we've been surgically connected! NEVER abandoned by that muse!

Hmm, "a" muse or "the" Muse. I think it is important for men and women alike to court the Muse, working towards a creative life that strives to balance our feminine and masculine tendencies.

Yes and she's proven to be very elusive. But, I go on... No point giving up when you know what it is you want.
