KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (Reuters) - President George W. Bush sought to mend his strained relationship with Vladimir Putin on Sunday, as he hosted the Russian president at his family's oceanfront home for talks on Iran and plans to build a U.S. missile shield in Eastern Europe.

Just before Putin arrived, more than a thousand anti-war protesters rallied near the century-old Kennebunkport estate of Bush's father, former President George H.W. Bush.

These people couldn't even find Iraq on a map, yet there they are "protesting" that which they don't even comprehend. Guess it's an excuse for some hippes and other miscreants to get together, take drugs, burn some flags, spit at the police and maybe even get their ugly mugs on the evening news.

Yeah, the bastards actually think they live in a free country where that's acceptable!

Imagine wanting to pass on blowing someone's brains out...pity the cowardly bastard who just wants to live in peace.

Has anyone told you lately Marxist to "shut up and fight"....or better yet just plain shut up?

What do you know of Nam?

Did you know they set death traps for Americans? Holes with spikes so that when they fell in they would be impaled?

This is your love for America and what you wish on your sons and daughters? It's disgusting.

Why would any American be upset about other Americans taking part in the democratic process by voicing there political opinions? Isn't this what citizens are supposed to do in a democracy? And people who disagree with you or with President Bush do not hate America. And you will notice the story said nothing about anyone burning any American flags. Has anyone burned an American flag in the last 35 years? It had some popularity during the Vietnam War but faded away quickly as a form of protest.

Unfortunately, a lot of protestors are paid to do so. They attend all the protests because they get paid by various lobbies to do so, and have made a "career" out of it.
Sad.
I can understand the idea behind war protests at least, but what about when they protest the G 8? I mean, really if it had 180 members it wouldn't be the G 8 would it. And don't they think that world leaders should talk about things civily? Seems these days, they protest anything, just to protest, it doesn't matter what it is - their against it.

I suppose this comment applies to the pro-war protestors that were shown also..."These people couldn't even find Iraq on a map, yet there they are "protesting" that which they don't even comprehend. Guess it's an excuse for some hippes and other miscreants to get together, take drugs, burn some flags, spit at the police and maybe even get their ugly mugs on the evening news." Just change 'burn some flags' to 'drape flags on coffins'.
Get a grip, people have the right to their opinion. Just like you do. Just because you see things a certain way does not make another point of view wrong or stupid. It is just different than yours.
Hate is un-necessary. Debate and discussion in a civil manner are wonderful things.

Why might any American be upset approximately different individuals engaging contained in the democratic technique with the aid of voicing there political comments? isn't this what electorate are meant to do in a democracy? and persons who disagree with you or with President Bush do not hate usa. and you will see the story pronounced not something approximately everybody burning any American flags. They can't find Iraq on a map! They sure can protest the war and how horrible our troops treat the poor "Iraqi civilians". And they can protest against our flag. Disgraceful! With that kind of protest, they surely are aiding the islamofascists. Why can't somebody shut them up? Think they'll be celebrating Independence Day and waving the American flag?

You only have to look at these low-lifes to realize they revel in being unruly and causing commotion. These demonstrations are just a thinly-veiled excuse for some aging douche-bag hippies to put on K-mart quality knock-off psychedelic t-shits and pretend it's 1968 again. I dunno. Maybe they're really hoping to meet Grace Slick someday.

Just look at photo archives. The expression on Cindy Sheehan's face when she's being carried away by police proves she's loving it. She craves the attention. She relishes the chance to cause trouble and needlessly disrupt things. This is how Liberals operate. Have you ever seen an unruly CONSERVATIVE demonstration? Have you ever seen Conservatives blocking traffic, burning the flag, and shouting obscenities?

You're right, all this demonstration is so phony. These people don't even understand the issues they are protesting. It reminds me of some hippie wanna-be's protesting "Bohemian Grove". You can see videos of them trying to sound like their movie conceptualization of how Indians would sound invoking the power of Mother Earth. It's absolutely pathetic. I was almost embarrassed for them. They try to pass themselves off as stewards of the earth, but the words they are reciting are things they obviously have never even said before, as evidenced by how forced an unnatural they sound reciting them.

Hippies..... let's turn the hoses on them and add soap.

I get what your saying . . . . I have nothing but the deepest respect for our servicemen, my uncle served in Vietnam (and was proud of it)

I may not like that we are there but I support our troops all the way. I think people have a right to protest but there is a line between protesting a war (becuase you truly think it is unjust) and protesting "to fit in with the crowd"

Also, I think its disgusting when people take low blows at our president, it is highly desrespectful . . . and frankly . . rude.

I've been to Iraq yet you say I can't find the place on a map! I also attended that protest, and not a person there was doing drugs, burning flags or spitting, either at police or at anything else. Not only have I been to Iraq, my son has also served a combat tour there.
I also have an engineering degree, and I know without a doubt that the Shrub's "missile shield" will NOT work. So who do you think you are, telling me to grow up?

Do you think protesting is a waste of time? What do you do when you disagree with what your government is doing? These people are standing up for what they believe. They stood up against Johnson (a democrat). The stood up against Nixon (a republican). They stood up to speak out about another wrong decision to go to war.

What have you done to make this country a better place. I'll be waiting for your response, but I am sure we won't get one.

Honey, it's 2007, not the summer of love anymore. Times and protesters have changed.
