Unless you are really good at math, top one out of 10,000 or something, pursuing an engineering career would be a safer and better choice.

Math opportunities without a PhD might be limited. That doesn't mean you shouldn't consider math...just realize that you will probably need to pursue a PhD if you are interested in the areas that are mainly research.
If you like math and want to impart that love of math to others, you might want to teach. To teach at the college level you would need a PhD but you could teach at the high school level with a BS/MS.
Engineering courses require a lot of math and physics. You have time in college to take the prerequisite courses and then pick your major after the first or even second year. You may find other interests in college. Not many people know what they will be when they are in high school.

I think that you should tell your dad that you don't want to do the same thing as your brother, that you like maths. It's your life dude, live it how you wanna. And as for not going anywhere without a phd, Thats just rubbish. Alot of todays richest people finished high school at year ten. You just have to know what you want and go for it.

You sound like a young kid. If you are then I am writing to a "younger me". I was just like you; I had an unquenchable thirst for the simple beauty of mathematics, but became something else. Now I am nearly... well pretty old and have absolutely no idea about what kind of life I am leading. I feel so damn worthless in my current occupation. Now I know kid you have probably heard this a million times, but TRUST me do not give up on your dreams. Look back at all the mathematicians in history and you'll see that few of them were actually backed by their families. Now I am not saying disrespect your father, but the study of mathematics is second only to reliving prayers to The Almighty One.

Math has plenty of opportunities, with or without a PH D. Investment banking, insurance companies, airlines, biomedical firms are among those that hire mathematicians.
Keep studying math, and keep studying science. Keep your options open. You are too young to have to make a decision now.

I'd say get in to the field (mathematics/physics) that you love --not in some field that might be more lucrative.
I would also advise that whatever field you choose, you should sharpen your communication skills including spelling and sentence structure. This is essential to be successful in any technical field.

At the end of they day, it is you who has to live your life, nobody else. You cant let anybody make your decisions for you, especially when it will affect the rest of your life.
Just approach your dad and tell him that you thank him for looknig out for you and only wanting the best for you, but this is something you really want to do. Im sure he will respect you for it.
