push in power lite for five seconds, and computer power lite goes off. Cannot reboot with push button unless I unplug computer for 10 seconds, then plug it back in. then and only then can i reboot with power button.

what could this be? i have tried several things already.

Not a virus. This occurs after reformatting. Also, I deleted all restore points before reformatting, etc. I also ran many antivirus and antispyware programs prior to reformatting. :-(

It's either the power supply or the motherboard.

On the power supply there is a little red slide button, it should read 115 if your in the US, also take your computer in becuase the motherboard may be damaged, or "partly fried" where if it on for long periods of time it will surge and won't work that well, I had that with a motherboard I had, I had to buy a new one,

Does this only happen after a period of inactivity? or at just any time.. like during web browsing?...

If it is only during inactivity... can you press the key to get everything back? (it sounds like powersaver mode to me.. unless it is a bad power supply)

it happens to me too, i believe my computer is overheating, when i checked with some programs, the heat sensor on my processor indicated a heat close to 70degrees C try letting it cool down then try again, go get it checked out by a professional if your not comfortable or knowledgeable on cleaning/repairing computers

its a possibility of a virus clean out your computer
