Pulling air in and making a sound is a start. The classic line for instructions on how to whistle is still true "just purse you lips together and blow". The trick is to control how fast you are breathing out when you blow. If you get a breathy rush of air, you are blowing to fast. Try practicing breathing out slowly then do it again with you lips pushed together. It will take a lot of practice and won't happen at all at first. Just give it time and be persistent.

Good Luck.

For the longest time, I whistled by sucking air in instead of blowing out. I think those who whistle well have mouths or teeth that are positioned for them to do so. Just a thought. My 14 year old son gets frustrated because he wants to whistle and can't.

I can't really explain it, but when I typed your question in the
"Search for questions:" box right above this, I found hundreds of similar questions with over a thousand suggestion.

Yahoo!Answers has been around long enough now to be a very good source of questions, without even using up points.
