Is it true that there was a queen in Baghdad called Shahrazad which used to tell tale to a king called Shahryar, and the tales made the arabian nights (one thousand and one nights)?

Or it's just a legend?

ARABIAN NIGHTS - The Book of One Thousand and One Nights written in Persian language 'Alf Layla wa-Layla; also known as The Book of a Thousand Nights and a Night, One Thousand and One Nights, 1001 Arabian Nights, Arabian Nights, is a collection of stories compiled over thousands of years by various authors, translators and scholars. Though an original manuscript has never been found several versions date the collection's genesis to somewhere between 800-900 AD.

It is all imaginary stories. Even Shahryar, and Persian Queen, Scheherazade are imaginary characters only.

Any way all the stories are beautifully told and every one should read them. -

Ok, so there's a lot of violent radical islamists. Too many. A lot of blood has been shed. I'll even give you that its a much more violent religion than any other in modern times. I agree with you on that point, although I think it's not fair to apply that label to ALL people who follow Islam as theyre's a lot of them, and most aren't radical. What is it you propose doing? And for that matter, how is what Obama is doing different than what his challenger is proposing. I hear some tough talk, but few specifics. We're already fighting one war. Do you want more?

Scheherazade is also a legend. many of "her" tales predate
"her" existence.
having Scheherazade tell the tales is a device used to bring all the tales together into a book in some logical semblance of order.
the use of Scheherazade also allowed the teller of a tale to make a commentary on some of the social political themes

by commentary i mean the Story teller can present a story
and if a listener gets upset by something the storyteller says
the story teller can put the blame on the politically incorrect stuff on what Scheherazade said.
