Do you have a family member that you have to live with or deal with, that always find something negative about everything in life? Example: I have a family member who when talking of people who win a lottery, that says "Yeah, but you have to pay taxes on it, so it's not so great. Or, if it's sunny outside.."Well, I'll just get burned." Just turns everything into a negative.. Never finds anything good in life.
If so, how do you deal with the person? I'm running out of ideas.

I wish there were an easy solution to this problem. I have that person too. She drove me crazy and was starting to depress me. One day I told her that while I like to spend time with her, the negativity was bringing me down and for her to express it elsewhere. You may just want to learn to ignore it. If you engage this person in a conversation about their negativity or each negative comment, things will only get worse. Find something uplifting to do rather than listen to the negative vibes.

my dad is like that most of the time, but he's not really negative so much as just cynical about EVERYTHINGGG! i definitely know what you're dealing with, and it's not fun. i often have a hard time getting along with my dad because of this. lately i've just being trying to make a counterpoint to HIS counterpoints, or else i just change the subject or leave the room. if that is too frustrating and doesn't help, i would suggest you sit the person down and tell him or her how his or her negative attitude is bothering you and ruining your attitude as well.

well when i find someone thats that negative i try ti get away from them or just be like why are you so negative? why cant you see the good in things? and if that doesnt work out ...you could just tell them that people dont like negative people , everyone wants to be with someone that they can have fun with and that can help them out in a positive way not a negative one.

Oh, yes...I do. I just try to tune her out most of the time and/or tell her to stop being so negative, 'cause it really can bring me down sometimes. And if that doesn't work...at times, I literally walk away from her, so I can be alone and try to find some peace of mind.

I have plenty of people in my family who are negative. I keep all my good news to myself and avoid bringing home any of my boyfriends to introduce to my family.

I think it's a law that there has to be at least one of those in each family. I have never seen an exception.
