Footprints In The Sand
One night I dreamed I was walking along the
beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life
flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there was one only.
This bothered me because I noticed that
during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from anguish,
sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints,
so I said to the Lord,
You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there has only been one set of footprints
in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
have you not been there for me?
The Lord replied,
The years when you have seen only
one set of footprints,
my child, is when I carried you.

Let me try to answer your question with some questions.
What did you do to deserve to be born? How about to feel the warmth of sunlight, or the touch of a breeze? Did you put your brain together and teach it how to ask these questions? What did you do to deserve to be born healthy in an industrialized country where you are not likely to starve to death or die of malaria while still a child?
You came from nothing and were given more miracles than all the atoms in the universe added up could account for. To just exist you won the cosmic lottery.
Do you know what will happen tomorrow or what's in store for you?
When it all comes down to it, if you had any good moments in your life you were blessed by the universe, and as long as you live, you have the possibility that it will bless you again, perhaps more so than you've ever experienced.
The key to strength is perspective, the key to joy is learning to love what you've had, what you have, and what you might still gain!

How to overcome the sadness as a result of something bad that has happened is by changing your focus.
If you are sad because you have lost someone, do not allow yourself to focus on the loss, remember the life you had before the loss.
The things that made you smile then will still bring a smile to your face now. All you have to do is remember. That is one of the beauties of life.
Peace and love to you.

I have grieved for my past
Buried it in the passing years.
I strive to deal with the sadness of today
Let the future keep its own indigenous sorrow.
I will deal with it another day
Harboring the everlasting sadness
Grieving once more
as it slides on past
To lie buried in the passing years
Till, at last, there be no tomorrow
And an end to the everlasting sorrow
