ask your land lord to prorate the month so that you don't have to pay the full thing, but like the other guy said you should give30 to 60day notice so that they can put your place on the market for so they don't have any down time. also read your contract if it says it should cover this point and if it doesn't your lucky because they didn't cover themselves so they can sue! if you think that i didn't answer this please feel free to e-mail me at ABA.englishAT yahoo.com

Talk to your management company.

I have had the same thing happen with two results:
1. I paid for the whole month.
2. They were really cool and pro-rated an extra week for me. So I only paid for the 7 days.

It is up to your landlord, though, so talk to them.

Talk to your landlord or rental agent. Many (the nice ones) will be understanding and will continue your lease until you are able to move, and Pro-rate your rent payment accordingly. Others will not. I suggest asking nicely and seeing what they say.

Most rents are on a total month to month basis, but with giving your landlord a notice and speaking with him in advance you might get away with a partial especially if he can rent it out right away.

You need to talk to your landlord to see what their policy is but you should be able to have him/her prorate the cost. Meaning that the cost of the whole month is divided up and you only pay for the number of days you are there not the whole month. Talk to your landlord to find out for sure!

Most landlords will ask for the full month. If really nice they may only ask for 1/2.

Recommend communicating with your landlord if you have not. Typically you have to give them at least 30 days notice.
