Personally, I'm a Dick Vermeil fan. Ate the very least you had to have your eyes glued to the TV so you didnt miss any action on any given play. Now that Herm has dimantled a #1 offensive team and brought them to a #19 ranked Offense and #20 ranked Defense, I'm not a fan of his at all.

We are going to waste LJ's best years giving him the ball way too much, risking injury, on a at best a .500 season.

Personally, I think we reverted back to the days of 1,2,3, punt when we had a defense that could win a game for us back in '98 and '99. Not that we have that defense now.

Does anyone see any upside in Herm?

<<< GO CHIEFS!!!! I worship the Chiefs and Arrowhead is my altar. I liked Vermiel - except for the crying. That being said, I hate Herm Edwards (knew that hire was a bad idea right when it happened) and Carl Peterson is pissing me off somethin' fierce. Last year, unless we ignore history, Edwards made sure that LJ will have only a couple of lack luster years left in him after that 416 carry season. I agree with you 100% about the Chiefs 3 and out offense we have now. The only difference between what they have now and Marty-Ball, is that on 3rd and 6 they might try to throw for the first down now instead of run up the gut or throw a 3 yard out pattern. I do see one upside to Herm, he might damage the team so badly that he is run out of town on a rail and then we can try to bring Bill Cowher out of retirement and back to his roots running a dominating defense in KC. Maybe eventually we could actually win a playoff game then.

I think Herm is way overrated--especially following a class act like Dick Vermiel. Take for example Larry Johnson, Vermiel told him to "take off his diaper" and perform, challenging him to be a better player, which LJ did--Herm just handed LJ the starting job without demanding the same standard of performance. Between the o-line KC has, and the other talent on the team, Larry should have had a banner 2006 season and KC should have been entrenched in the playoff race.

I see no upside to Herm. He is neither an emotional leader of the team nor a brilliant technical coach. Sadly, I think KC is just not going to reach their great players' full potential with him at the helm.

Oh, and although I'm not a huge Trent Green fan, I thought his (Herm's) complete absense in terms of the negotiations with Trent disrespected him (Trent) as a team leader and sent a very bad message to the team.

Their offense is worse cuz al saunders is on the washington staff now. Its not all Herm. And as we all know REdskins pay way too much for ppl so kc couldnt keep em. its not all herms fault his play book is like 5 pgs saunders was like 100 herm is a defensive coach they should have kept al saunders!! There is an upside he has signed alot of people for the defense . Damon Huard is good. at qb croyle has to develop. The problem for kc is..... offensive line .... shocking isnt it.... They lost their al pro line to the retierd list and they have barely any o line. Waters and Wigamn are the obly o line

I like Dick Vermeil as well. However Herm did take them to the playoffs last year despite playing three different QBs. He made them competitive and they did at least see post-season. Give him a break and see what he does his second year, remember "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME"

Herm is Herm, his M.O is the same as it was with the Jets....which is too bad, just think if you had the defense Herm will have this year, with the Offense Vermeil had a few years back you guys would be money......eventually you have to score points and that will be a problem...croyle? huard? good luck! esp being in a div with SD and DEN....

the chiefs are going to keep goin downhill, sorry herm is an def coach and he screwed with the off to keep the def happy, and ur right about LJ, it will take either a new coach or someone to talk some sense into herm to get them above where they were with dick

What is the attraction to Herm anyways? What did he really do with NYJ? They made it to the playoffs, but did they win much? One good year if I remember correctly. Problem for KC fan, what else is out there? QB? Coach? RB (after LJ leaves)? As a Lions fan, let me welcome you to the door mat of the NFL!

The Chiefs are back to the Dave Kreig, Steve DeBerg era, without DT and Neil Smith this time.
