Last question and I'm done =)

I have to predict which element has

a) A positive electron affinity
b) A very high first ionization energy
c) One of the smallest atomic radii in it's period

correct me if I'm wrong, but don't "a" and "b" contradict each other?

Which element has those 3 properties?

It easily forms a -1 ion, it doesn't form a +1 ion (unelss you really beat on it), and it's sucked in hard as the neutral atom.

Look to your toothpaste and your non-stick frypan.

a and b do not contradict at all.

a is the ability to attract an electron. Since it is positive, it will be on the right side of the Periodic table.

b is the energy to lose an electron. Since it is high, this element will again be on the right side of the Periodic table.

So it is consistent.

For c, look at the halogens and see which element has the smalles atomic radius. It will cover a, b and c
