The previews and commercials take up usually take 10 minutes. If there is a 1:45 showing and you get there at 2:41 - you will miss the movie. Are you serious, or was that a typo?!

if it is 2:41 and the movie started at 1:45 you will have missed the first 30 to 40 minutes of the movie unless you are driving into a different timezone

Ehhhh, let's see! The average time a movie lasts, with previews is about 2 hours, so you should get to the movies on time unless the traffic is awful this time of day, and/or traffic accidents.
In my teeny little hick location, via the interstate, as the crow flies, it takes about 7 minutes to get to the Cinemaplex.
