I have a problem with my CD burner I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 and I was trying to copy some cds for a friend one was the Lion King sound track (which doesn't have any blocks on it) I can get the songs in my library and to were they will play with out the cd in the player but then when I put a blank CD in and tell the computer to put those songs on the blank cd it fills the cd up but once you take the blank cd out and put it back in it says the cd is still blank how can this be how do I burn copy of Cd's correctly. I'm using windows DVD maker it says it works for music CDs too.

I will first of all assume that you can burn other types of data and you are only having problems with MP3s.

It sounds to me like your media player is letting you copy your CD for your use, but then will not let you make copies from your copy (Microsoft Media Player?).

Try using another tool to make your MP3s. I use Audiograbber which is free and does a great job. It is a little bit involved though and you need to install the lame encoder yourself. You can get Audiograbber here:

http://www.audiograbber.de/downloads/agsetup

After you have installed this (you can install it in English even though it comes from a German web site) you need to unpack the lame_enc.dll from the following link into the Audiograbber directory.

http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=2762&s=22

Otherwise, if this is too complicated, just use Winamp. You will need the professional version to make MP3s though. This costs 20 Dollars.

Hope this helps...
Eric.

Try Burning Something Else To A (New) Blank CD- A Text file You Made Yourself. Remove And Reinsert The Disk To Check It. If It Doesn't Show The Text File, The Burning Process Isn't Working Right. If It Does Show, There May Be Some Form Of "Digital Rights Management" (Copy Protection) At Work You're Not Aware Of.
