I have an old necklace from my grandma but i do not know anything about it. I was told it was not a precious metal but I have just found 917 printed on the clasp and I cannot find what this means. It is silver in colour. Please help.

India uses 91.7 as 22k. It is more prevalent in the east. Enjoy your necklace!!!

It is 22 Carat gold and as you say it is silver coloured, it is white gold. It may only be the clasp that is gold but I certainly hope it is the whole thing. Well done for spotting this mark

Are you sure its 917, cos the hallmark for 22 karat is actually 916.

Probably means it is 22 carat ( 91·7 pure )
Gold comes in various colours from Welsh gold(deep shade) through to white gold.
Seek valuation from REPUTABLE dealer (or 2)

It means 22 Karat Gold - 22K or 917

It is 91.7% pure gold and the rest is made up of other metal materials.
