I am not sure whether "ca" means California or Canada, but if it's California, see a divorce attorney to get more information. I do not know the specific about getting divorced without actually knowing your spouse's whereabouts, but I do think there are laws in most states that allow it.
I have found the best divorce website is
http://www.totaldivorce.com.
It has articles about custody, spousal support, the divorce process, etc. It also can help you find a divorce attorney. I LOVE this site! There's always new info and you can submit your specific information and get an attorney to comment on it.
Good luck to you. I hope it all works out for you.

File with spouse as missing, post a notice in local papers, The Bee, LA Times, with all pertinent information, where the filing was, the date, etc. You can find out from a lawyer how long this "add" must run then, if your spouse is a no show you will be granted a default decree of divorce.

Just like most other places. File for divorce with spouse missing. Usual proceedure is to post a notice in local papes for a while stating the divorce and the court date and time. When the time comes the courts proceed as if he were a no-show and your divorce is granted to you and everything you want. But if there is monetary awards then you have the same problem, cant collect til he is found
