What should I do on a road trip with a 6 year old boy in the car next to me without any hand held devices?????

If u guys can, please also tell me some websites that have some good mindbending games, like grids, soduko, kakuro, and stuff like that, websites where i can just print them out.

Also some good things to keep him busy while keeping me busy too, something that's good for both of us, plz tell us by this Monday, we're leaving the day after that, also, it is a 3 day trip

wow... does this bring back memories.

we use to travel all the time & no electronic games back then. We were able to take games w/ us but i guess like others have mentioned were the road games. My mom, found these hard cardboard games that were like BINGO... u found the item in them & then slid the window shut. But u can play the same game by the well known... I SPY..... or chg it to I SEE... FIND ME>>>
we also did the Alphabet game. like was mentioned. We also did the animal game. Find a cow... etc. we did the Herbie game mentioned but it was called SLUG BUG...hehe
that got old fast... & dangerous. Count how many SEMI's r on the road.... or a red cars. Depending how long u'r driving... make sure u take his pillow so he can lean on it & his favorite stuff toy. He'll probably sleep a lot & b prepared to stop for potty. Also if u can.. take a cooler w/ some snacks.. & mayb drinks. It will save u money on "mom, i want...." cheese sticks, peanut butter crackers, apples, carrots, celery, pretzels, things like that.

I don't know about the websites, but I used to play games with my youngsters on trips like the first one to see a Greyhound bus or other vehicles that are easy to spot and make up little prizes as you go. My daughter used to look for the 18 wheelers that had the Swift Co. on it and say "There goes swifteeeee"! Hope u find those website games they would help too.

I used to travel with my grandparents. No hand held devices in those days. We sang songs. My grandpa told us stories from when he was a kid. We'd play games looking for particular color cars or words on road signs. One easy alphabet game is to start with "A" and find a word on a sign with that letter, then go to "B", etc. Do it together the first time, then have a contest if he's able to do it on his own. We read books. Let your boy read to you. Get kid tapes and listen together. Car trips are a great way to bond.

We always played "Herbie". A player will get a point every time they spot a VW Bug or Beetle and call "HERBIE", but get 2 points for a white Herbie ("HERBIE HERBIE"). Lots of fun, kids love it, and good for counting, too.
Singing camp songs was always popular, too. There are CDs available with kids' songs from Disney, too; all the old favorites.

you can go online and print some pictures that he can color exp. fave. t.v characters, cars...etc. You can play hangman or tic-tac-toe. You can buy a travel-size game like hungry hippo, connect four, he can do a puzzle or you can make a list of question exp. How many McDonald's he see's throughout the trip.

I got my kids magnetic checkers. But, they are tiny and easy to lose. I'm sure there are other magnetic games.
