No one truly finds themselves until they go through every gauntlet life has to offer..in all the tragic, dramatic and happy situations that you have never experience...you do not know how you will react and feel about it...those who say they have found themselves is BS!

By '' finding yourself '' means that you are starting to know yourself well. You find new things about you and you realize that this are useful in your '' psychic portrait '' , and this is good. Try to know you well, you're the only one who can do this , you're the only one who knows your real behavior and feelings. Good Luck!

I think they are saying that they came to an understanding of who they are and what motivates them. A student once asked his Zen master, "How will I know when I have reached satori (ultimate understanding or knowledge)?"
The Master said, "A man sits and a man stands. But for a man who reaches satori, when he sits, he knows he is sitting; and when he stands, he knows he is standing."
Most of the time we just do things and life and wonder why we did it. A person who finds himself knows why he did it.
