...I believe each of us have hidden things...feelings, money, possessions, fears, loves, desires, dreams, beliefs, etc....but what causes us to keep them hidden...what fuels the fire that causes this smoke ?

I think it's a lack of trust too. Were used to having so much of ourselves not be accepted by others, so we learn to keep it all inside and hide things about ourselves that we think others won't like. It starts when were really little with our parents and then sibs.... and gets so ingrained we don't even know when we are doing it.
