I just saw the movie Shooter last night and it really got me thinking. Does anybody truly believe that the United States government is that ruthless and corrupt? Please explain why or why not.

By the way, Shooter was an excellent movie!

Nooo... of course not. They just listen in on our phone and Internet conversations, withhold information from the people, keep "potential terrorists" locked up in secret prisons, send our loved ones over to die in a war that we've already lost, and deny certain groups their fundamental rights just for being who they are because the government is "protecting" us. HA!

(Catch the sarcasm...?)

I doubt it's as corrupt as in the movie, but the bottom line is ALL governments are corrupt to some degree.

As a wise man once said:

"power corrupts,

absolute power corrupts absolutely"

yes I think the government is corrupt. thats why they take money from lobbyists and why some at the end of their political careers go on to work for the same corporations they helped by supporting bills during their politcal careers

Yes! There is no doubt in my mind that our government is corrupt. Certain elements within the government are far, far more corrupt than the rest. But, most of them are corrupt to one degree or another. You have surely heard the old saying that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely! *sm*

Our government is corrupt because, as Lord Acton once said, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Having said that, Our country (America) and political system is the best in the world. So be proud of voting to support it in the next election. Also fly the America flag on the fourth of July.

Do u have any second thoughts abt it? Well then, let me clear it.

Temme somethin, how come governments have never been accountable for their escapades with tax payers' money?

Temme how, inspite of claiming how bad terrorism is, US supplies arms and ammunition to the rogue nations?

Temme how Bush even got elected for a second term in the first place?

Yes it is and even more so, look at the facts. The Lusitania to start the Spanish-American war, our government admits this now. Pearl Harbor the government now admits it knew 12 days before an attack was coming, and that they also sank three Japanese subs, at the entrance to the harbor. Operation North woods, PNAC, The illegal Income Tax , Waco Texas, Ruby Ridge, and the big one 911, look at all the facts, too many to put here,. Do yourself a favor and look at all the things that did and didn't happen on that day.

Also read some of the online articles in the Washington Post. Read up on alot of articles also that keep being posted on the Yahoo News website. There is political corruption wherever you look. Bush, Cheney, Gonzales, Karl Rove, Condi Rice, etc. Shall I go on? It is all around. Look up the CNN.com website and MSNBC.com website. They tend to have stories on their corruption also. Especially if the White House and Cheney's office refuse to hand over information they are supposed to, it just smells like they are hiding some kind of criminal activity. Condi Rice awhile back even denied she would have to testify to anything under a subpeona that was issued to her. She is obviously not wanting something known. Corrupt, corrupt, corrupt. BTW, I never saw the movie Shooter.

i am not from the US but i personally think it is the most corrupt country in the world. although u don't know this many countries think that america is nothing but a racist, sick country along with the Uk. i am from Ireland and i watch in pity as the war happens in Iraq and millions of people die. i think that it is evil that if someone from the government dies in the US or UK it gets headlines but if 50 ppl die in Iraq no-one bats an eye lid. I also think that the rick countries should be donating trillions of pounds to africa every year but noone does that either except a few individuals. i am sorry to be so harsh but everyone i know agrees with me on the US government being corrupt, but not the ppl because they are really nice. I hope this gives u and outsiders view :(

Of course it is. From it's assasination of Lincoln to the Military Industrial Complex's murder of Mr. Kennedy. We're the most corrupt nation on Earth.

Our popularity shows it.
