Welcome to the wacky, fun-packed world of rejection.
Every writer suffers this malady when they have no agent or publisher connections.
My YA novel GAMEPLAYER: The Genesis Portal was a bear to find a publisher willing to handle it. This is even though I have two previously published non-fiction books to my credit. Little did I realize that my first publisher Focal press has no ties to fiction publishing.
I don't know the ins and outs of self-publishing except that it's not considered actually being published. The self-publishers that contacted me (like locusts as soon as I sent out some query letters) informed me that it would probably cost me about ten thousand dollars and that there was little chance of ever re-cooping it. So if you have scads of extra money laying around and your ego drives you to see your name on a book cover, check them out.
Otherwise just do the basic steps:
1) Go through Writer's Market and list all agents and publishers who handle your genre.
2) Send a query letter to each listing following their submission guidelines to the letter.
***go online to their site to get their up-to-date guidelines and the current person's name to address your query.***
3) Prepare to receive reams of rejection letters and don't take them personally. They're not.
4) Don't give up.
I read an article on Steven King that mentioned he was rejected so many times that he resorted to writing magazine articles to get published.
Wishing you the best of luck with your writing,
Gary Anderson

Agents is not going to contact whatever that's already Published (if it is a professional enterprise) niether will they put up matters which were placed at the Internet. Synopsis's is ok however for those who add chapters then no. Also with self-publishing you've doomed your self. Your ebook is not getting anyplace so that you write some thing else and process an Agent. They desire to grasp whether or not you've any matrerial Published, then they desire to grasp whether or not it bought. Yours has no longer, they surprise why and wont be given your paintings. You have to ask why your paintings hasn't bought. Self-Publishing could make or holiday you and really in most cases it breaks you, now you'll be able to wrestle to put up whatever along with your History. I are not able to urge men and women adequate to investigate each angel of Publishing and in my sincere opinion avoid Self-publishing. Sorry to provide you handiest unhealthy information, however it is not your ebook that wont be authorised however you as good. I are not able to even inform you what to do and you'll be able to no longer get out of it I'm afraid. I'm no longer an Author myself I paintings for the 'Dark Side', men and women should not be so petrified of Agents we do not chunk that tough.

This question gets asked about 40 times a day here. If you go to Resolved Questions and search keywords publishers and publishing, you can print out literally hundreds of replies to read and study.
There is no way anyone can give you an answer at this time. 1) The book must be finished and 2) I don't know the genre.
Get yourself a copy of Writers Market 2007 and study it. In order to sell a book, you have to learn to advocate for yourself.
One hint - you don't send the book to anyone unsolicited. You send a query letter and a book proposal. You have to learn how to write both documents and write them well enough to interest a publisher or agent enough to request the manuscript .
Good luck. Pax - C

You can self publish, or you can locate an agent to represent you to a publisher. You can also send it to a publisher, cold, but this is not the best way. Check out a copy of Writer's Market 2007. It has lists of agents, publishers and contests. You will need to identify your genre first (ie. children's, young adult, non-fiction...)
The library is chock-full of books by agents, authors and publishers about publishing. You might want to check one out, they can be very helpful in understanding the whole process.

I don't know a lot about professional publishing, but in the meantime, you could publish it yourself: Lulu.com
