If I want to open my own grad school (or something to help students through grad school) what credentials would I need?

I guess the obvious first answer is a PhD. If you want to open your own grad school (if that's what you mean), it is a crowded market now. The biggest hurdle is credibility. You will need recognized experience in education yourself, then at least a handful of other respected individuals to act as instructors and draw students.

Your school would need to be accredited if you expect to have any credibility at all. That's not an easy process.
