Please tell me your favorite restaurant for each park (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, MGM) and or hotels. Tell me why it is your favorite. Is it the food or atmosphere? Also can it be used with the dining plan?

I am traveling with 3 and 5 year olds, so please keep that in mind.

I guess I can't add the Dining Plan to the Land portion of Disney Cruise...so that doesn't matter anymore.

Also any really good counter service places?

I love Disney restaurant questions! OK, here we go!

The Magic Kingdom:

inside the park:
Liberty Tree Tavern with Minnie and Friends: this is on the Disney Dining Plan, is fun for young children to meet characters without waiting in line, and the food is really good: think all-American, mased potatoes and gravy type of place. Reservations are required.

Nearby Hotel Restaurant:

Polynesian: Ohana's - best atmosphere and views of Bay Lake and the 7 Seas Lagoon! At this location, everyone is your cousin. And it is unique in that the all you can eat buffet is broight to you! This location is on the dining plan for breakfast and dinner.
Polynesian's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show is also a favorite! This is on the dining plan, but takes up 2 table service meals per person. The food and show are fantastic! They even pause the show so guests can watch the MK fireworks!
Contemporary Resort:
California Grill: amazing views from the top floor/roof of this resort - amazing food including sushi, steak, etc... fine dining!
Grand Floridian Resort & Spa:
1900 Park Fair - this American all you ca eat buffet is an excellent 2nd choice if Cinderella's Royal Table was booked solid. Dine with Cinderella, Prince Charming and the Fairy Godmother! This is on the dining plan and requires reservations.

EPCOT:
Too many choices here!

For experience:
Coral Reef- dine on gourmet seafood by a 35,000 gallon awuarium! On Dining Plan
Akershush Restaurant (princess breakfast) or for lunch and dinner for Norweigen foods (seafood, primarily) - also on plan.
Taste of Japan (formerly the Teppenyaki Restaurant) - great sushi!

Disney-MGM Studios:
Playhouse Disney breakfast at the Hollywood & Vine Rest. - great for kids if they love Bear in the Big Blue house or Winnie the Pooh!
50s Prime Time Cafe: my favorite in all of the studios - this is truly an experience where you feel, literally, like family!
Sci-Fi Dine in theater: sit in classic convertable cars under a "night" sky while you enjoy great burgers and old sci fi film reels! Lots of fun!
Mama Melrose's - best Italian food in all of Disney World!
All of the above are on the dining plan.

Animal Kingdom:
Boma-Flavors of Africa at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. My all time favorite restaurant at WDW. Savor foods from Pacific rim countries like Africa, Egypt, etc... they also have American food for kids and picky eaters. Truly creative cuisine! This is an all you can eat buffet and is on the plan
Rainforest - either at DAK or at Downtown Disney is always fun for kids.

Also try Cape May at Disney's Beach Club, ESPN Zone at Disney's Boardwalk, or Wolfgang Puck's place at Downtown Disney! All great!

Dining reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance by calling 407-WDW-DINE. Some locations require a credit card pre-pay.

Nearly all of the restaurants in the theme parks can be used with the dining plan.

At the Magic Kingdom, my favorite place is Liberty Tree Tavern in Liberty Square. It features good food and some character dining at certain times. A close second is Crystal Palace, a buffet featuring Winnie the Pooh and friends.

At Epcot, hands down, my favorite choice is the German Biergarten, and a close second is Alfredo's in Italy. The Garden Grille in The Land pavilion is neat too. In about the time it takes to eat dinner, it rotates a complete turn through the middle of the attraction.

At Disney/MGM Studios, your 3 and 5 year olds would probably get a kick out of the Sci-Fi Dine In Theatre, which is themed like an old drive-in movie. You sit in "cars" that are parked in front of a big screen and your carhops bring you the food you ordered. A second favorite is the 50's Prime-Time cafe, where you sit in a 1950's "kitchenette" and a "Leave-it-to-Beaver" style "Mom" brings you your food, and even chides you for not eating your vegetables!

At the Animal Kingdom, a lot of people like the Rainforest Cafe, but my personal preference is Restaurantosaurus, especially for breakfast!

All of these choices are for the atmosphere. The food is exceptionally good (compared to how Disney used to do food back in the early 80's).

And finally, let me recommend one experience outside the theme parks...the Hoop-De-Doo Revue at Fort Wilderness is well worth the money and time invested to attend. (From the Magic Kingdom, it's a 15 minute boat ride...and there's bus service from the other theme parks.) It's an all-you-can eat, family-style American dinner (Chicken, ribs, corn-on-the-cob, Strawberry Shortcake, etc) with some really good family entertainment. I took my son when he was 3 and he loved it.

All of these things can be used with the dining plan. The Hoop-De-Doo Revue will actually count as two table-service meals in your plan, though, should you choose to do that.

We love Donald's Restaurantosaurus at the Animal Kingdom. They have a character breakfast (reservations required) in the morning, and they serve McDonald's Happy Meals the rest of the day. At Epcot, my son loves the American restaurant in the United States area of the World Showcase, or the Teppanyaki restaurant in Japan - very entertaining for the kids, and the food is excellent. The Magic Kingdom has a little hotdog stand on the way to Cinderella's castle where there is often a piano player outside. MGM has the ABC Commissary, and Pizza Planet from Toy Story - lots of fun for kids! The All-Star resorts have great food courts, where you can get anything from chicken strips to prime rib - all at the same meal. If you get to the Animal Kingdom Lodge, check out Boma - it's a great buffet with something for everyone.

My family just returned from Disney World last week & had a wonderful time. Here are a few places we ate.

At Magic Kingdom- Cosmo Cafe in Tomorrowland. They have "kids meals" for children that are very affordable. There is even a show for the kids to watch while the grownups rest.

At MGM there is a great restaurant where you eat in a "car" & watch movies while you eat. Kinda like an old drive-in. I don't remember the name though. The food was good & comparable with the rest of the park.

Animal Kingdom has a great McDonalds in Dinosaur land. They offer great meal deals & lots of indoor seating.

Blizzard Beach & Typhoon Lagoon offer typical beach fare at several stands throughout the park. Be sure to get a funnel cake or fried ice cream. Yumm!!!

Whispering Canon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge - Cowboy type food - Bar-B-Que Chicken, Cornbread, Mashed Potatoes, Sausage, Corn on the cob. And Bottomless Milkshakes. Really fun atmosphere for all ages. They do wooden pony races around the restaurant for the kids and alot of other surprises. I'm sure you can use the dinning plan.

We also liked 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. It's a character meal. Dinner includes the characters, Cinderella, Prince Charming, Fairy Godmother and the Girl Mouses. Very pretty atmosphere and we especially liked the Strawberry Soup and the Shrimp Alfredo!

Chef Mickey's is also a nice character meal for dinner. It's located in the Contemporary Hotel next to the Magic Kingdom. This buffett features Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Chip & Dale.

Sci Fi theater in MGM. Great food, and sitting in the cars while eating is pretty cool. 50's Prime Time restaurant - great food and atmosphere. Just don't put your elbows on the table and use good manners, or you will see what happens! Chef Mickey's Character breakfast in the Contemporary - some people don't like the food here, but where else can you get Mickey and the gang to come right to your table for pictures and autographs. Fulton's Crab house in Downtown Disney - VERY pricey, but the food is more than worth it. Ghiradelli's chocolate shop - Do I really need to explain? Earl of Sandwich - good food that you can get very quickly. Best sandwiches around. Found in Downtown Disney. Casey's corner - Right on the corner at the Castle end of Main Street of the Magic Kingdom. Hot dogs with all the trimmings and it was never very crowded. Great place to grab a quick counter service meal. We ate at most of these places when we were there a week ago, and loved all of them. Hope this helps!!

At Magic Kingdom I like the Cosmo Cafe in at Tomorrowland. They have cafeteria type food, you can even choose salads for the adults and kids meals for the little tykes. There is a show with an animatronic person that plays the piano. The kids get a kick out of the show.

At MGM it would be the ABC commissary's-they have cheap meals and I believe it is on the meal plan.

I have not really eaten at Animal Kingdom. Just check the maps, they will highlight which restaurants use the meal plan.

Make a reservation at Boma for the breakfast buffet. (It is located at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.) The food is awesome and afterwards you can go outside and look at all the animals.

CHECK OUT ALLEARSNET.com-it has all the restaurants at Disney with pricing.

The best place to eat is at Cinderella's Castle in the Magic Kingdom especially with 3 and 5 year olds I am 13 and went with my 2 little cousins the same age and there faces just lit up when they saw the inside of the castle with all of the princesses and everything. It is worth it you get a free picture with Cinderella before you sit down and during your meal they have a wishes show where you get your own wishing star that lites up and the kids get to make a wish. It is so magical and the atmoshere is amazing. Also the boys get swords ans the girls get wands.
