do the Gibson, but choose the SG over the Les Paul...trust me, man...

Strat is great for blues players. It's pretty decent for rock. But the Les Paul is the rock standard. I'd have to agree thought that I'd rather play the SG. Great sounding guitar at half the weight.

I love the sound of a Les Paul, but it always feels really heavy compared to a Strat. The Strat can sound great if you get the humbucker pickups in the bridge position. Stock strats have a thin sound because of the single coil pickups. I've been a huge Ibanez fan as of late, also.

I love my Les Paul, so I would have to say go with that. I personally think that Fender instruments sound wayyyy to mechanical. Plus...Strats are common as hell.

les paul- they are the guitars to play.
any gibson (or epiphone) will rock. personally, i prefer the sg, but i really like les pauls
