I have a rover 25, 75K miles. The engine just stopped taking load or didn't accelerate after driving for around 20 miles. I stopped the car and after 5 mins it was working fine. Could anybody tell me the possible reason for that??? Is it the engine not cooling properly or something wrong with the engine??
cheers

Yes, something is wrong with the engine, probably fuel related.

When was the car last serviced? My first port of call would be the air filter and all the associated vacuum pipes that run from the air filter box to the engine. Over time the pipes can become brittle and allow air into them resulting in poor performance.
Second thing to check is the fuel filer, again over time the filter can become blocked and will need replacement.

Probably not temp related, as in five minutes it would actually be hotter than when you shut it off. I agree that its most likely fuel related. Start with something simple like a fuel filter.

Check the temp gauge when this happens, going over the line right? Change the thermostat and insure the fluid is where it should be
