They don't look up the meaning of the word. Thats what I find most amusing, is when someone throws a label on another person, ignoring both the meaning of the word and the fact that the person being labeled doesn't agree.
When people can make up whatever meaning they want for the words and labels they throw around, those words become meaningless. Which devolves the entire conversation to mindless shouting.

For your information Blitz H as a liberal I:
am not a communist.
I love the US Constitution (wish Bush did)
Hate it when people burn flags, since it accompshies nothing.
I have never done any drugs that were not prescribed by a doctor.
My family is/was in the military (and even they hate Bush)
I go to church every single week (I am a lector, and Eurchristic minister, BTW: According to his words and teachings, Jesus was a liberal)
I have Muslim friends, African Americans, etc. If anyone is racist its the Conservatives.
I have never taken a cent from the Federal or state governemnts, unless it is by Income Tax refunds.
That is a matter of opinion on what is poor or rich. I have a loving family, a loving fiancee and a career I always loved. That in my opinion is richer than having millions of dollars.
As for conspricy theorists, yes I think that JFK was a conspricy but I don't think anyone planted explosives during 9/11.
I support anyone that tries to make a better life for themselves, and as long as they are not raping, killing or planting explosvies in federal buidlings in Oklahoma I am fine.
I support religion and have been to many religious ceremonies (I am a Roman Catholic by birth, however, I have been to a Jewish Synaguouge, a Muslim Mosque, a Lutheran Mass, and an Angelican and Epsicapilain Mass.). Not only do I support religion but I embrace all the religions of the Earth.
I like to think that I am the nicest person that you will ever meet. I make friends to anyone I come in contact with, I am very helpful and if anyone needs help with something they can count on me. I have never called anyone evil, a moron or stupid. Its just not in my nature.
As for Israel I have no real opinion about this country. I have always been against people taking the land of others for no reason (I guess it stems from my roots as a Native American) I could never hate a person until I have meet them.
I guess you can say I am the anti-sterotype liberal. Now I know that some liberals do drugs and burn flags, however, I have found that those are more the exception than the rule. BTW I know Conservatives that does drugs.
People that trusts Fox News and Bush proves that PT Barnum had a point.

Both liberals and conservatives do this.
are all liberals socialist or communist? no but some of their beliefs lean in that direction.
On the other hand are all conservatives Nazis? No you would find very few conservatives that would even come close to espousing those beliefs.
Not all liberals do drugs and some Conservatives probably do but I would not know who.
Some liberal do attend church and some conservatives don't.
Not all liberals are racist but some of their beliefs make me think that they do not believe that some groups are a capable as others.
This belief would be incorrect.
There are some conservatives that are racist but we call them to account for it.
Not all liberals are living off welfare some are very rich.
ex John Kerry, Ted Kennedy.
Not all conservatives are rich either there are middle class and poor conservatives also.
Both sides have conspiracy theorists.
Liberals complain about Bush as much as conservatives complained about Clinton.
Not all liberal support illegal immigration and not all conservatives are against it.
Not all liberals are against religion but most of the assaults on religion are coming from liberals at this time.
Although there are some conservatives that have a similar viewpoint on religion.
The generalizations will never stop because it is human nature to do so.

Generalizing is the last refuge of those without arguments. Lee Atwater started it, Karl Rove has perfected it, and Frank Luntz actually consults about it.
What is "it" that I'm talking about? It's the use of language to separate the committed from the undecided. In other words, those who generalize in the manner you've sampled are trying to create majorities for their own positions NOT by actually positing their own positions but rather by negating their opposition (i.e. "liberals") with false associations.
The target audience - independents, centrists, middle-of-the-roaders - react viscerally to these associations and tend to play it safe by supporting right and right-of-center politics. Hence 2004's political flavor of that year, "security moms", voted for what they saw as the sure security of Bush's war on terror, even though these same "security moms" were also "health care moms", "day care moms", and "fair wage moms" - polls showed this.
Fortunately, voters can be insulted and manipulated as single-issue obsessive-compulsives for only so long. Hence 2006 Congressional elections to the Dems, and 2008 seems likely Dem as well.

Many say these things about liberals because they have nothing constructive to say.
A few may even believe it.
Most say it because there is a chorus on the other side of the political fence throwing comments just as hateful at conservatives. And the lack of evidence is just as lacking going from liberal to conservative as it is conservative to liberal.
Some of these crazies on YA must do it for entertainment purposes only or because they can hide behind a computer and say things they never would to another persons face.
The two political parties love this because the arguing and rankor help them fundraise. It's easier for either party to gain your support, and your dollars, when they can convenience you that your friend, co-worker, or neighbor is a member of the evil opposite party. Politics is the new gladiator sport.
It will stop when calm reasonable people from both sides start talking and trying to understand the other side so a common sense solution can be found for our problems.
Until then, just duck......

Most of what you have posted are twist on the facts. And it is plain to see you wil never vote for a black man! Simple! You are a racist, and brainwashed con! Vacations, don't care Debt to revive an economy going in the dump, and it worked, Russian troops, don't care NDAA , agree, not good! Controls communication, that mean Rush, Hannity, Beck, Doyle, Colter, FOX ? Keystone pipeline is for export only, and temp jobs, and an environmental hazard, for Middle Class and Middle America! Nukes we are still on disarmament program, Republicans signed Election votes, better than Republican Secretary of State in Florida! Giving illegals access to permanent residence I also disagree with, but this is for a minor few! Rev Wright, Christian pastor, with a bone to pick with .001%ers. go figure! Ground Zero Mosque, freedom of religion is given right.

One reason would be that some people who claim to be liberal actually live up to such a stereotype (eg many politicians that claim to be liberal are in fact socialist). But then some people who claim to be conservative live up to the same stereotype or a different one altogether. Doesn't matter as the terms liberal and conservative no longer mean anything other than the wacky stereotypes. In reality, a liberal and a conservative by historical definition are probably more alike than they are different.
I am neither liberal, nor conservative... or I'm both depending on how you view libertarians.

Beats me...
admittedly it takes more effort to listen with an open mind, debate civilly and understand that disagreement doesn't, in itself, make the other person stupid. Hopefully it's worth the effort! Funny thing, until this morning, I thought I was a liberal, turns out I'm a libertarian. Go figure!
There's a very interesting question (What do you really know about political positions?) in 'civic participation' with a lot of good information. Here's the link:

slogans have always been used to label the opposition and dumb down the general populace.
during the commie era it was "better dead then red"
otoh, I'm not sure what "liberal" really means anymore, except as a label to identify everyone who does not support the current administration. Which, btw, isn't conservative at all...

They try to hide the fact that they have no knowledge
of the real issues with childish name calling.
Unfortunately, for them, this tatic is becoming transparent
& annoying to people with brains, from both sides.
