You are right on!! Now they need to ship out many of their over paid prima donnas and start rebuilding. If they are smart, they will start the process now and not wait till the end of the season. Give Clemens and Petite their unconditional release and see if they can ruin some other team's chances. Then get rid of A-Rod, Cano, Damon and all the others.Keep only Jeter who is the embodiment of what a baseball player ought to be. All the rest put together do not add up to his class, talent, and desire to win.
Chow!!

The Yankees lost the 1964 World Series and did not come back until 1976. It takes that long at least to reload a farm system. Just ask the Royals. The Yankee fans will just have to think about their rings from the last Millenium to get them through the next few years.
Decisions like spending $18 million on a 45 year old pitcher who is performing as well as any good pitcher from Scranton (the Yankee AAA club) would have done for $400,000 and the kid would at least be getting big league experience. They overpaid for Matsui and Damon. They lived for the present and unless George is willing to continue to plunk down a quarter billion annually on the top free agents, it's going to be a while before the Yankees are a threat again.

well i think they will have to battle it out all season just to get to .500 baseball and as we all know the Yankees have talent but the thing is that they have not been consistent and b/c of that they have been so bad this year ex . sometimes bad pitching but good enough offense to win the game and great pitching not enough offense so i think its the inconsistency of the Yankees and there pitching its all started from the beginning they dug them self's a big whole that know they cant get out of and i don't know they just need to take 1 game at a time and hope for the best i still believe they can do it i never count the Yankees out

I am not a Yankee fan but I'll say this....the team is getting old and aging by every hour...they made a bad investment with Johnny Damon, Roger Clemens to name a few....they need to establish the farm system once again and at the same time the starting pitching is dreadful to watch....get rid of Petitte, Clemens, Palvano and Mussina...they are players of the past...move on to the future...

joe torre is gonna be fired at the end of this season. The yankees should and probably will focus on a better starting rotation and bullpen next year. One of the big hitters WILL BE TRADED. I think it could be Abreu for a decent starting pitcher.

The players / coaches are going to invest their big contacts into mutual funds and junk bonds. There's no guarantee that they will be paid next year.

You're right, money can't buy the World Series, well, not always. Brian Cashman is cooked! So is Joe Torre, sadly.

Whatever happens they deserve every bit of it. And it is so righteous to see them lose so horribly and so badly and it is truly God's gift to baseball knowing they will NOT make the playoffs this year!!!
