I'm looking for vampire creation myths from any culture to help with a story idea. I need to know how people thought the first vampire ever was made, not how one vampire makes another. (Kind of like in Anne Rice's books, Akasha was made into the first vampire because of her and Amel fusing together to create one soul). Does anyone have a specific myth or a website that I could find the myths at?

Vampire myths date back to ancient Egypt, even Greece and Rome, and I'm already working on reading Dracula.

I saw a movie(Dracula 2000?) once that said that The First vampire was Judas Iscariot, punished for his betrayal, and that is why Crosses and Silver were the primary weapons, as his betrayal put Jesus on the Cross, and earned him the 30 pieces of Silver.
The film franchise Underworld said that they started when Immortal twins were bitten, one by a Bat the other by a Wolf, thus spawning both Vampires and Werewolves(Lycans)
The Blade Franchise has its own Vampire origin mythos.
In the Buffy the Vampire Slayer world, I think they are Demonic spirits left over from a pre- human world who found a way to take humanoid form and then change humans into demonic hybrids
The problem is that the creatures and legends such as Vampirism are created first, and then in hind sight origin stories are created to explain the hows and the whys of their behavior.
For a more modern example, just look at Superman. In 1938 he was created with the vague outline of being an orphan of a dead planet who had powers. Today there exists a Kryptonese alphabet and written language, references to a theology, and scientific analysis and explanations of why he has the powers he does. not to mention the expansion, of who his friends and enemies are.

Thru the possession of ones' blood, the life essence of ones' making, coupled with a direct and open omittance to denounce ones' very soul to death and truly speak the words from ones' source is to break the sovereign law of GOD, that a soul and spirit should be killed is a damnation like no other.

I do know that we get vampire jokes and questions all the time....we just recently moved to Transylvania and are about 10 minutes from Bram Stroker's famous Bran Castle in Dracula.

I have also heard that it had something to do with Adam's first wife Lilith. She really gets alot of bad press from the chrisitan and jewish religions. You can find a lot about her just by Googling Lilith.

I won't be surprise if they pinch the name from someone else since there' no copy right on it. Anyway I think the name Aro is possibly derived from the word arrow. Something that is slim and fast.
